Electric Mobility Service in Topsham, Maine
Pine State Pedals considers service requests for e-bikes, electric trikes, scooters, cargo bikes and other electric mobility equipment, including products bought elsewhere. Service is by appointment in Topsham, serving Midcoast Maine. Acceptance depends on the equipment, safe serviceability, technician availability and parts support.
How do I request service?
Text 207-370-0412 with your name, the make and model number, and what issues you are having. Clear photos of the equipment and model label help us identify it. We may ask for more details and check general parts support before accepting the job. Review our service policy and confirm you agree. Wait for PSP to accept the request and arrange drop-off before bringing equipment to the shop.
What does diagnosis cost?
Our standard labor rate is $150 per hour. Initial diagnosis has a one-hour minimum ($150) once the equipment is physically with PSP or in front of our technician at an agreed service location. PSP may reduce or waive that minimum depending on the situation. The diagnostic payment counts toward the total repair labor bill; it does not buy an additional free hour of installation. Parts and materials are separate.
When do I pay, and when does repair work start?
After initial diagnosis, we send the diagnostic invoice and a quote for recommended repairs. You choose what to approve. Further repairs and parts orders stay on hold until the diagnostic invoice is paid, the quote is approved, and any required advance payment is received, unless PSP confirms a different arrangement. Work outside the approved quote needs further approval.
Do you charge for finding and ordering parts?
Research and ordering done within the initial diagnostic hour are included in that hour. PSP-supplied parts use our predefined pricing chart based on full landed cost: the part, shipping and purchase tax actually paid. If that first hour is used up and additional sourcing is needed, the sourcing amount is the higher of $50 or the chart's markup dollars, never both. We quote it and get approval before additional sourcing begins. We do not bill the same diagnostic time again. Approved sourcing remains payable if you decline the repair.
Can I supply my own part?
Yes, you can supply a confirmed-compatible part. No parts sourcing charge applies. Diagnosis and approved installation labor still apply. We must confirm the proposed work can be performed safely before accepting it.
Can you guarantee parts or a completion date?
No. We work on many brands and models, and some parts are discontinued, unavailable or require supplier confirmation. A preliminary availability check is not a diagnosis or a guarantee of fitment or stock. Repair timing depends on findings, customer approval, payment, technician scheduling and supplier response or delivery. We will communicate meaningful updates without promising a completion date we cannot confirm.
Can my equipment stay at the shop while parts are pending?
Waiting for parts alone does not trigger storage charges. Only when we need shop space, we may ask you to collect the equipment until parts are available. You have 72 elapsed hours from that pickup notice. We state the exact date and time in Eastern time when storage begins; after that deadline it is $20 per day unless we agree otherwise in writing. Paying or approving the repair does not cancel a separate space-related pickup notice. We arrange a return appointment when parts are available.
What happens when you need my payment, approval or pickup?
Our notice will identify the required action and the exact storage-start date and time. Under the service policy, you have 72 hours to pay and approve quoted work, or pay and collect the equipment, unless we agree otherwise in writing. Unresolved customer action after that deadline may result in $20 per day storage. Waiting on PSP, its technician or parts alone does not start that clock. Existing agreed prices, deadlines and written arrangements are honored; new fees are not applied retroactively.
Will the manufacturer pay for warranty work?
Warranty coverage, parts and labor reimbursement require confirmation from the manufacturer or warranty program. A request or a dropped-off item is not a promise of coverage. We confirm the authorized scope and who pays before proceeding; any customer-paid work requires your approval.
